About the Role
Seaforce provide Fleet and Marine Engineering support to support to numerous Commonwealth and Defence organisations, and are looking for experienced maritime systems engineers to add to our expanding team. Seaforce are looking to fill:
:- Deputy Chief Marine Engineer (DCME) - with a view of becoming CME
:- Deputy Fleet Engineer
:- Assistant Fleet Engineer
:- LOTE Team project engineers
:- Configuration Manager
These existing roles will give you the opportunity be a Subject Matter Expert for a fleet of patrol boats, ships and small vessels.
As a specialist Maritime Systems Engineer, you will be at the core of Seaforce’s capability. Within thesse varied roles you will:
:- Provide shipyard support to dockings, repairs and refits representing the Commonwealth of Australia’s interests
:- Provide advice and support to ship managers/superintendents a Fleet/Marine engineering SME
:- Collaborate with office and shipboard engineering staff to provide SME marine engineering support
:- Conduct targeted and general Physical Configuration Audits (PCA) aboard patrol boats, ships and other Marine Unit assets
:- Provide engineering expertise and project management into vessel mid-life upgrade and Life of Type Extensions (role/s: LOTE Teams)
:- Assist with engineering assessment of repair plans, defect rectification and engineering change embodiment proposed and completed by the ISS contractors (role/s: Deputy & Assistant Fleet Engineer)
:- Manage the configuration status of the ABF Fleet (role: Configuration Manager)
:- Ensure certification assurance and auditing support in accordance with the ISM Code, Class, statutory and national regulatory body requirements (role: Deputy Chief Marine Engineer)
:- Lead technical and engineering investigations (role/s: Deputy & Assistant Fleet Engineer)
These roles are available to experienced engineers in Canberra and the ACT Region.
Requirements
Hold current BASELINE (minium) AGSVA is essential. An active ABF ESC is highly desirable
Engineering degree in mechanical/electrical/naval architecture/marine systems or equivalent maritime/defence experience working in a relevant field.
Experience and/or qualifications in electrical engineering or secure communications & sensors will be looked upon favourably
Attention to detail, sound communication skills with the ability to develop effective relationships with stakeholders, both Commonwealth and commercial
Well-developed communication skills for managing stakeholders and conveying technical risk issues
Understanding of Defence/government user community and associated operational environment & experience in commercial marine platform systems highly desirable
Independent safety assessment experience highly regarded
